Style seems to inherit bold setting from previous style
I have a pair of styles I am using to write a little user guide. The first style (style1) uses a hanging indent creating a little margin for the dingbats (a right triangle). The other style (style2) is a multi-level bulleted list where the first level bullets are aligned with the offset in style1. Style1 uses a bold font that is slightly larger than the one for style2. I have style1's paragraph following set to style2. All this was working perfectly. If I hit CR at the end of a style1 line, I got a style2 paragraph correctly formatted. Today, I decided that the offset was a little too wide, so I adjusted it by 0.1". Now if I hit CR at the end of a style1 line, I get a style2 paragraph, but with the font settings for style1. If I reassign the paragraph to style2, it formats correctly. I have tried resetting the font settings for style2 to no avail. Can anyone suggest what might have gone wrong? |

Note that the "Style for following paragraph" is only applied if you press Enter at the very end of the paragraph (that is, immediately to the left of the paragraph mark); otherwise, Word assumes you want to split the paragraph instead.
To see what is going on, display nonprinting marks (use the ¶ button on the Home tab). In particular, pay attention to paragraph marks (represented by pilcrows, ¶) and spaces (represented by dots).

Yes, I understand that. I am definitely positioned at the end. Perhaps I didn't explain it very well. The new paragraph has all of the right formatting (indents, list format) except the font. Style1 is 13 pt bold. Style2 is 12 pt non-bold. If I apply style2 directly, I get 12 pt regular. If I hit CR at the very end of a style1 paragraph, I get 13 pt bold.
This was working correctly until yesterday. |

What happens if you select some text (using either of the two styles) and press Ctrl+SpaceBar (which runs the ResetChar command)?
