word 2010 vertical lines
how do you insert a vertical line to seperate text segments in office 2010? i tried "draw tabel" and removing all the lines execpt for one but doing it this way leaves a rather big gap between the text and the line is their anyway i can get the text closer to the line without shrinking it? or is their an alternativ way to insert vertical lines? |

Perhaps a paragraph border would be easier? On the Home tab, click the arrow on the border button (the one on the far right) in the Paragraph group. Click the Borders and Shading command. Word displays the Borders and Shading dialog box.
Even if you want to use a table, you can change the cell margins so that the text and border come closer together.

If you want a vertical line that "cuts" through the paragraph you will have to set a bar tab. Display the vertical ruler if it isn't already showing. On the far left (just below the ribbon), click the tab/indent selector until it displays a vertical bar. Then click the horizontal ruler where you want your bar tab.

To control text wrapping, you'll have to insert a shape instead, via the Insert tab. Click the line format you want. Hold Shift while drawing the line; that way, you can make it vertical. Then right-click the line, and choose More Layout Options on the context menu. Set the Wrapping Style to "Through."

I'm not sure I understand the difference between those "illustrations." Could you perhaps post a picture instead--or describe it more in detail?
