EndNote Crashing Word

I've put this on the EndNote forum as well, but for those using EndNote X5...

When I have citations in my Figure captions - especially those that accidentally get "swallowed" by Word2010's equation editor, cause Word to crash. Upon deleting (i.e. backspace) the hyperlink or when Word routinely checks for cite-while-you-write updates, each program states "waiting for user input" from the other program. Word is then completely immobilized because there is no popup to tell the program what to do: Task Manager has to be used to kill Word.

I have turned off that piece-of-crap UAC for Windows 7. Thanks in advance,
