Using Word 2007 -- Word encounters a problem with a file and will eventually close down. when I try to open the file again Word indicates that the file caused a problem previously. I delete the file. Word will NOT let me use the file name again as it keeps indicating the file caused a problem previously. Question - How can I use the file name again and have Word recognize the file is now a good file?

The problem could be with an owner file (sometimes called a "lock" file) left over from the crash. Such a file is created when you edit a Word document, and it has a similar name as the document but the file name starts with ~$. Display hidden files in Windows and delete the file. You must exit Word first, and possibly also restart Windows. For more, see http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm.
