pages in limbo

Trying to start chapters on an odd page ... got as far as "odd page section breaks", though these are doing hideous things to cross-refs that should pick up the text of the Heading 1, and find myself wondering "where is that blank page?"



All I see when I'm editing the document is a discreet skip from odd page number to odd page number in the footer. Must I conclude the automatically inserted even page doesn't actually exist? it's where "intentionally left blank" belongs!
