I have a document that was sent to me that has about 100 footnotes. When I try to add a footnote, it start the numbering over from the beginning. So if I add footnotes after each of the original footnotes 20, 21, and 22, I get this order of footnotes:
20 1 21 2 22 3 This order also shows up in the list of footnotes if I try to insert a cross-reference, so Word seems to be recognizing all of the footnotes, but it is keeping two orders. Further, I can edit the footnote numbers both in the superscripts in the actual text and in the footnote itself. So I can change footnote 24 to just be footnote 2, and I can change footnote 14 to 174, and there are no complaints. Is there any way to convert all of the footnotes (hopefully including the ones I have added) to normal footnotes? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Was this document created in another word processor, such as WordPerfect?
