I don't know if you can do this i ms word, I have seached a little bit but did´nt find anything.

Problem
Let's say I have a figure with the figure number 2-1.

I have a text that is refering too the figure, for example "as illustrated in figure 2-1".

If I later put in another figure before figure 2-1 the figure number in the caption changes automatically. My question is if you can do so that the number in the text also changes automatically at the same time without disturbing the numbering of other figures?
