Automatic numbering is the easiest method. I have attached a sample of your Word document and a PDF file showing you the button to use.

1. Select all of your text by pressing and holding the CTRL key while pressing the A key. Let go of both keys. If this is done correctly all of the content in your document will be highlighted as shown in the PDF file.
2. Click on the numbering button on the formatting ribbon - see the circled button in my attachment.
3. Click at the top of the document to "de-select" the text.
4. Delete all of the manual numbers
