On excel there is a drop down box facility where you can select text. Is there such a thing on word.

Yes, there are various kinds - dropdown formfields, content control dropdowns and ActiveX listboxes. They're all available via the Ribbon's Developer Tab.

Sorry im a newbe and you totally confused.com me there

What im trying to do is to be able to click on a arrow at the side like excel and then select one of the items on the drop down menu.
