The Word 2007 PDF converter does not convert equations. I think this is the add-in from MSFT, but I'm not sure. I've had it a long time.
A little research revealed that this is a known problem that can be fixed with a Control Panel setting, which requires the XP installation disk. Here's the page describing the fix: http://tinyurl.com/7o35cqn. Is there any place where I can get this file? It's been 5-6 years since I bought this PC and I cannot find my installation disk. Thanks |

Paul,
As far as I can see, this is the same as the solution at the link I provided. That one uses the control panel. This one appears to run the same applet, but from the DOS box. Both require that I insert the XP installation diskette, which I cannot find. My question was whether there is someplace where I can download the required file. The prompt indicates that it is looking for ftlx041e.dll. (See attached screen shot.) I have searched my hard disk and the file is not there. I see several non-Microsoft places for downloading the file. Are they safe? Why is it not available from Microsoft? |

Hi Jennifer,
Yes, you do need an XP installation disk. The ftlx041e.dll file is only a few kb of what I gather will be a 200MB+ installation (though not necessarily a 200MB+ increase in the final size of your XP installation), so I'm not sure that downloading it will get you much further.
