Default Hi

To permanently set the 'recent places' display to show nothing requires a registry for Word, another for Excel. and another for Powerpoint. See the detailed instructions at the link below. You will need to apply the decimal value: 0

Hi

To disable the 'recent files' function you have to change a registry setting for Word (also for Excel, also for PowerPoint)

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983006

Before you start make sure Word, Excel and Ppt are showing at least one "recent place" location (otherwise the the registry key you need to locate won't appear in your ......\office\12.0 folder).

In Win7 there is no "Run" function on the Start facility - so open the Command Prompt (under Start, Accessories) - just type: regedit

I had no difficulty doing the above - and am very pleased to see the last of those "recent places" - as well as the "recent files" which are turned off quite differently.

Regards from NZ!!!
