page numbering across multiple documents
i've to about 17 word documents that i've had to separate because of file size. i want the pages numbers to run from the first document to the 17th document. how do i do this without using a master document? the master document crashes all the time.

How about just using the menu Insert | Page Numbers. click Format, enter a number in the Start at box.
There is a drawback though, if one document changes page count, the following pages have to be adjusted manually. |

yeah....i'm trying to avoid that, cause this set of documents will always have pages being taken in and out of it.

I think you need some VBA code to achieve this, sorry I'm not a VBA programmer and can't give you the exact code, maybe other members can help you out.
The code will do something like: Get the last page number of the previous file, then use it to set starting page number for current file. |
