![]() Trying to figure out how to set up a footnote sequence, so that notes at the bottom of the page will first appear prefaced with an asterisk, then a dagger, then a double dagger, etc. I can get to the box that allows the user to enter a "custom mark," into which I can get the asterisk but I can't figure out how to go any further. Guidance appreciated. |

Hi DBinSJ,
That's not the way to do it - you change the number format instead.

Yipes: I have another problem.
When I create the footnotes, the program moves the intervening text (between the paragraph with the note and the note at the bottom) to the next page. So there's a big gap of white space between the symbol and the note at the bottom of the page. Any ideas on how to avoid that? |

Hi DBinSJ,
There are various factors that come into play here. For example, if the affected paragraph's attributes are set to 'keep together', then all of it must stay on a common page and that can mean a large empty space at the bottom of the preceding page. Another possibility is that your page layout has inappropriate dimesions for the bottom marging and/or the page footer. Without seeing the document, I can't really advise further.
