I have been attempting to create a style that will change only the text color and nothing else. However, whenever I apply it, the font size always reverts to 12 points. I can't understand why something so simple would be so impossible. In Open Office doing the same is so easy it's almost laughable. You just base the new character style on the font currently being used and change only the color, and *poof*, done. Works perfectly. Not in Word. Oh no no. Not in Word. That would be just toooooo much to ask.

For what it's worth, I'm not having any problems creating such a style in Word.

However, note that applying or reapplying a style may clear direct formatting applied to the selection. What are the font and size settings of the underlying paragraph style?
