Angry Problem removing Track changes

I have several documents that I've made track changes on and now I need to save them so that the changes do not appear. Every time I select "final" and then save, when I open it again, all the track changes still appear. How do I save this and not have the track changes appear? These documents are shared by many folks.

Hi mbesspiata,

You need to accept all the changes, via the 'Accept' button on the review tab. Simply changing to the 'final' view doesn't remove them. If you click on the little down arrow below the 'Accept' button, you'll see an option to Accept All, rather than going through the changes one-by-one.

Question Can't click on Accept

The problem is that the "Accept" button is grayed out and won't allow me to click on it. So now what do I do?

Mike

Hi Mike,

Unless you've protected the document, a greyed-out 'Accept' button suggests there are no tracked changes.

Question Still shows track changes

The problem is that when I open the document it opens up showing all the track changes. Even if I select "Final" under review and save, it still opens up showing the track changes. I've tried saving it under a different name but it still opens showing the track changes.

Hi Mike,

Selecting "Final" under review doesn't affect the tracked changes - it merely hides them. What concerns me, though, is your statement that the 'Accept' button is greyed out. That shouldn't occur in a document with tracked changes. Are you able to post a stripped-down copy with just a few of the offending tracked changes, plus some of the unaffected text?
