![]() I'm willing to give auto-hyphenation a try, so I'd like to know what is a good setting for the Hyphenation Zone? The default is .25". Also, is there a good book font/pitch combo that works well with this setting? I don't want to be distracted by heavy-handed hyphenation in my documents. |

Is this a justified document? In that case, a smaller hyphenation zone may be required. You should also select the "Do full justification the way WordPerfect 6.x for Windows does" option at Tools | Options | Compatibility.

Yep, it's fully justified. I tinkered with it a little bit and had to give up on the automatic setting when it tried hyphenate "trials" as "tri- als". I switched to a different font (Sabon Expert BQ, 12pt, condensed 0.1pt) and that seemed to give full justification more to work with. I still have to manually hyphenate here and there, but that font/setting seems to have less spacing issues.
