Press Alt+F9 to show field codes (if they are not already showing). Usually, the issue is with different languages using different list separators, as indicated in the regional settings in Control Panel. For example, on a computer where the regional settings is English, the following field:
{ EQ \o (x,y) } would display x and y superimposed. This works because comma is the list separator on those systems. If the list separator is defined to be a semi-colon, you'd expect to see { EQ \o (x;y) } instead. You will have to manually change the field codes to fix these issues when reading a document with fields on a different system.
