I write technical material, so I am frequently adding new words. But there's an annoying little issue, and I'm wondering if it can be fixed.
Let's say I want to add the (fictional) word 'framit'. If I type it as such, then click on 'add word', I still get a spelling error notification if I use it at the beginning of a sentence and capitalize it, or if I pluralize it. To get it to work correctly, I thus have to enter it four times to cover all possibilities. Can the spell check function not be made to recognize that a word at the beginning of a sentence (i.e., following a period) will have a capital letter? Now, if the word added to the spell checker was entered with a capital to start with, then of course it would have to have a capital letter wherever it was used. I don't know how easily the spell checker could deduce plurals (there are several different forms: s, es, i); but even cutting the number of entries in half would be helpful. |

Hi riweir,
AFAIK, If you add a word to the dictionary with a first capital letter, Word will recognise both the upper and lower case forms.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't found that to be the case, but I'll try it again.

Actually, it's the other way 'round - Word recognizes the capitalised forms of words added to the dictionary in lower-case form. If you input only a capitalised form, Word will regard the lower-case form as an error. This makes sense, as company names and the like sometimes use a mix of capital and lower-case letters and getting the capitalisation wrong amounts to an error.
