Default Recover my macro from previous Normal.dot?

I suspect that it is gone forever, but I thought I'd ask anyway...

Scenario: Win 10 with a SSD drive. It was acting buggy, so I installed Windows from a recover (thumb) drive that I made when I got the laptop. Then I reinstalled MS Office 365 (and a bunch of other stuff).

Only then, did I remember the homemade tool I made with VBA. I'm 99% sure it was in my old Normal.dot file. I tried a deep scan with Recuva, but no luck.

I also tried looking in some of my .docx files that I had used the tool in, but it is not there either.

Any other ideas to try?

Macros can be stored in any .doc, .dot, docm, or .dotm file. They are stored in the Normal template by default. If you try to open one of your older files that has macros, chances are good that you will get a Macro warning from Word.

Thanks for the info Charles. Still no luck, but that's okay. I'm just remaking the tool (which was fairly small anyway).
