Creating a reminder
Hi friends,
is it possible in Word to trigger an event every, let's say half an hour? For instance, if I wanted to bug me to remind me to do a certain task every half hour could that be written in VBA? Also being that this Mac would have to be run in the background as to say would it eat up system resources and slow Word down? Thank you and have a good day! Susan Flamingo |

Yes it is possible. I have not done a full engineering or performance study but I would assume that process uses some system resources. Does it eat them up? I don't think so. You will have to try it for yourself:
Code:
Sub Reminder() Application.OnTime Now + TimeValue("00:30:00"), "ReminderMsg" lbl_Exit: Exit Sub End Sub Sub ReminderMsg() If MsgBox("Wake up. Do you want to continue 30 minutes wake up calls?", vbYesNo, "Stop") = vbYes Then Reminder End If lbl_Exit: Exit Sub End Sub |

Works perfectly, of course.
If I would substitute a user form instead of the message box (inserted frmMyform.show) with two control buttons for continuing or stopping the macro, how would I continue or cancel the macro? Just like from a msg box? The hierarchy of VBA is still very unclear to me... |

It just dawned on me, that forget about resource usage, when this macro is running I will not be able to run any other macros, right?
If so I will trash the idea I had in mind...bummmmmmmer |

Why don't you try and see what happens? I'm sure that is some cases you will have to pepper you code with a few DoEvents statements.
Why do you want to do this anyway? Why don't you just set a reoccurring alarm on your smartphone, watch, Google calendar etc.? |
