Hello everyone:
In a legal document I need to insert a clause from a list of more than 30. They are grouped by categories: A, B, C... and each category into subcategories: A1, A2...,B1, B2 etc.


The clauses contain a lot of text, divided into columns.
What would be the most efficient way to do it?
If I use legacy forms dropdown list controls programming the On Exit macro will be very difficult.
If I use AutoTextList fields or Building Block Gallery Content Control the list will be very long.
That's why I'm wondering if there is a way to use either of these tools, or a combination of the two, like a dependent list, grouping the autotext entries into categories and subcategories, so that the list would only be 4 or 5 items.

In my opinion if you can remember what each clause actually is, I would save each one as a building block with a short logical name eg ca1, ca2, ca3, cb1, cb2, cb3, cc1, cc2, cc3

Then to insert one in your document type the relevant name and press F3 (or Enter)

If you don't know the contents of every clause by heart then you can still use building blocks and apply gallery and categories to each one to give you a way to organise them. Then you can add buttons on your ribbon which display the optional clauses for each Gallery/Category variant. So, I'm going to do it, I'm going to use building block gallery content control.
One more thing: Can the name of the galleries be changed? So, Custom 1 to 5 can rename them to something more descriptive of the clause group.

Personally, I wouldn't use a building block content control. Instead add the galleries to the ribbon or your QAT. That way you can insert however many entries as you need.

Whilst the galleries cannot be renamed, you can change the label that is displayed if you add the gallery to the ribbon, but the gallery name shown in the Building Blocks Organiser will remain the same.
