Not sure if it is possible, is there a way to have VBA code identify if there is anything in document following the point where you are about to insert the macro?

Your question is clear enough to be answerable. VBA code can identify almost anything in the document but 'insert the macro' doesn't mean much. Perhaps you mean at the point where the selection object is sitting when you start the macro.

Maybe try telling us what it is that you want to do and what the user will need to do before triggering the macro.
