Default Sources for Learning VBA for Word

This question has probably been asked and answered many times here. If so, when you throw things at me, make them soft, dry and nice-smelling, please.

I'm retired from IT but I've never used VBA. I want to learn. Most of the online resources are about VBA and Excel. I want to use it in Word. I have practically no knowledge of VBA but I think I know what it looks like when I see it.

Can anyone point me to good resources either online or in print that will help me learn to use the tool?

TIA

There are resources all over the place online so I wouldn't consider buying a book for vba unless you can only work that way.

I would start with Word Macros and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) FAQ and spend some time looking at youtube videos - maybe a search like "Word vba tutorial" to get a feel for it.
You can record some macros and examine the code.
Then review the threads in this forum for questions that pique your interest and test the code by stepping through it line by line.

None of the effort will be wasted if you become more and more comfortable with dabbling with the code you see. Try to understand what each line of code is doing by stepping through code one line at a time.

Finally, when you want to address issues that you encounter, post your code and a sample document on a forum like this and people will give you a hand to get past the sticking points.

Thank you, Andrew!

Hope that the eased restrictions are making life a bit better in Victoria.

I strongly agree with the recommendation of the Word MVP page. I found the Udemy courses by Grant Gamble useful. A very good, if older, book is Writing Word Macros: An Introduction to Programming Word using VBA: PhD Steven Roman. A more general one is Mastering VBA for Microsoft Office 365: Richard Mansfield: 9781119579335: Amazon.com: Books.

To effectively program Word (or other applications) a strong feel for the program itself and how it does things is essential. Otherwise, you will find yourself trying to reinvent the wheel.
