Default Trying to highlight pasted text in a macro

I have an application where I need to select autoformat on the text I just pasted into a word document. No problem I just paste the text and then on the paste options I select Apply Style or Formatting and all the pasted text is highlighted then under format I select AutoFormat and I'm done. Now I want to assign this to a macro and this is where I have a problem. The Apply Style or Formatting goes away when I'm recording a macro so now I'm stuck. Beats me as to why this goes away. How can I select just all the text I just pasted into the document?
