Default "The macro cannot be found or is disabled" error

I've created a Word macro that ran fine a couple of times, but now I'm getting the alert "The macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of your Macro security settings."

Enable all macros is selected in Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings. In Visual Basic, I can step through the macro, and it works fine.

I've tried the standard fixes like disabling add-ins and renaming Normal.dotm, but no joy. Starting Word in Safe mode didn't work, because I had no way to try to start the macro in that mode.

I'm trying to start the macro from an icon on the Quick Access Toolbar. I have many other macros in the same macro file, and they start fine from the toolbar.

The correct macro name does appear in the Developer > Code > Macros list.

I'm using Word 2007 on a Win 10 machine that I've updated regularly.

Has anyone else had the same problem and was able to fix it?

I suggest you recreate the button in the QAT. If you renamed it or the module it is in you may have broken the button that pointed at it.

Thanks so much Andrew; that worked. A bit of backstory: I'd become frustrated by the limited icons available to create QAT buttons, so I found a web site that offered the codes for many other icons (Office Excel Ribbon imageMso icons gallery page 01). It said it was for Word 2016, but it did appear in my Word 2007 QAT, so I thought I was good to go. When I took your advice, I changed the icon to one of the ones on offer in Word, and now the macro runs fine. I guess I should update Word. . . .

See Ribbon Custom Icons for more information on custom buttons for the QAT -or better still create your own ribbon Customize the Office Ribbon (It doesn't take rocket science)

Excellent links; thanks, Graham. Good thing I don't have a paper to work on right now; I'm going to be busy for the next few days streamlining the ribbon and the QAT.
