Question Locked Form - allow rows to be added as needed.

Hi, I am new to fillable forms.

I have a protected form which contains a table that the user may need additional rows.

How do I accomplish adding rows as needed?

Thanks in Advance

Either change your method of protection and use Content Controls or use a macro that unprotects the document, adds the row, and reprotects it.

I advise the former.

Here is an Add-In that will let you change your legacy formfields into Content Controls:

Default Protected Form Add Rows to table -- help.

I have been tasked with making the attached form fillable and need the table to allow for new rows as needed.

I know very little about macros -- I am trying to get the macro posted above by gmayor to work for my form attached.

I did save as word macro-enabled document to no avail.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Gail

Kindly don't post questions about the same topic in multiple threads. I have moved you latest post back to the thread where you first asked about this issue.

In any event, the document you have attached is in the docx format. Files in that format cannot contain macros such as the one you need in the link I supplied.

For your document, see attached

I would be using Content Controls and do away with macros altogether.

See attached - When your cursor is in a repeating unit, you will see a + sign on the right which you click on to add a new section.

@Guessed
Good Morning and thank you so much for introducing me to Content Controls! This is going to be extremely helpful in the future. PDF forms are my strength.

I tested the form and notice that I cannot tab or click into the first form field of the first table, the first Name and title: on page 3. Also, page 2 (checkboxes) is there a way to start with the first checkbox and tab through them?

Once again, your assistance is greatly appreciated. I will be taking time to learn more about how this works.

Respectfully,
Gail

Most likely Word is waiting for you to respond to a prompt just below the Ribbon.

Are your referring to the "Allow Editing" and "Enable Macros"? If so, I chose to clicked "Enable Editing" then "Enable Content" to activate Macros.

Document then opens with only "File, Tools, View". Unable to tab, select View Edit Document". Now, able to tab through but when I get to the last form field in the table it skips to the next form field, does not add a new rule as I would expect.

Anything else you would suggest I try?

Thanks,
Gail

The 'On exit' macro reference got deleted from the last cell in the table (probably as a result of testing). Updated. Try it now.

So now you have two possible approaches.

With Andrew's no macro is required, but it will only work on Word 2013 & later.

With mine, a macro is required, but it will work on almost every Word version going back to Word 2000.
