How to Update "Days since activity" using spin button in word
Hello everyone. I have reached the end of the internet I feel looking for the answer to this and am now coming to the experts. I have a question regarding auto updating numbers in a word file. I work at a location that requires a daily email that essentially updates the Executives on days since last activity. Examples are worth 1000 words so I have included one! Essentially, everyday I open this file, and provided nothing has happened, adjust the days to add 1 , click save and send the data to the execs. Is there a way to just use a spin button or something to Up the days by one automatically? As simple as it is to just up the days manually, I use these exercises to get better at Word everyday. Note: The formatting must stay exactly the same. |

If you recorded the date of the last event, a field code could be used to calculate the days elapsed. See Calculate the # Days Difference Between Two Dates, on page 11 of my Microsoft Word Date Calculation Tutorial, in a 'Sticky' thread at the top of the Word forum:
https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...-tutorial.html Do read the tutorial's introductory material.

I likewise recommend you use a field from Paul's tutorial. While he told you to be sure to read the introductory material, that cannot be stressed enough.
You will then have a field. Like many fields, it will not automatically update when the document is opened. It would be enough to use Ctrl+A followed by F9. If that is inconvenient, you could use a macro to update just that field when the document is opened. |
