Default VBA References - Normal

Hello,

I am currently running with an issue with a Macro because I am unable to locate or figure out how to add "Normal" as a reference on my work laptop. I have it on my desktop Word VBA but I am having a hard time figuring out how to update or download the reference "Normal"

Does anyone have a solution?

The reference is ordinarily added automatically - unless you've configured Word to start with a template other than 'Normal'. In any event, you shouldn't need to add such a reference unless you're trying to access something in Word's Normal template.

Did you try the code I posted in: https://www.msofficeforums.com/156912-post4.html ?

I did try it sorry I thought I sent a response and it didn't work I got an error.

But I modified it to this and it works but for some reason it doesn't work on my work laptop as noted since it doesn't have the 'Normal' reference. Any idea why it works on my desktop but not my work laptop. I'll attach the new code on a macro enabled doc.

I've been comparing both documents and the only difference I have seen and believe which is not working on my work laptop is because of the 'Normal' reference that I have on my desktop.

I added:
changedXml = Replace(changedXml, " " & " ", "")
changedXml = Replace(changedXml, vbLf & vbLf, "")

but as stated it doesn't fix the issue I was having on my work laptop which is where I need it.

It's really hard to address any problems (which I didn't encounter and couldn't address because you deleted the attachments), when you don't give any feedback, especially feedback that identifies where the problem lies.

Open your document and go to Developer|Document Template>Templates. if it's not 'Normal', use 'Attach' to browse to the Normal template's location (see https://www.msofficeforums.com/word/...locations.html) and select it.

That said, the only way I can see that your laptop installation wouldn't be loading the Normal template is if it's configured with a command-line switch to load a different template. See: Command-line switches for Microsoft Office products - Office Support

The command-line switch simply uses the named template as the base for the new document -- the attached template.

The normal template is still loaded and the Normal project is still present in the vb Editor. The only way I know of to not load the existing Normal template is with a /a or /safe switch, in which case, there is still a Normal project loaded.

At least, if we are talking about the /t switch.
