content control / locked document / hyperlink possible ?

I've got a content control dropdown list that auto generates text to a second content control. My question is, can I have the value of the dropdown list be hyperlinked to another word document source? Second question, how can I make the content control be 'accessible' to viewers while it's a locked document? I know I can't lock it as is and make it work, I tried.

What exactly are you trying to achieve?
How have you linked the content controls? Are they both list boxes?
You can flag the fields with 'editors' and then protect the document as read only and the controls will work normally - see
