Macro to list building blocks
[Edit: Split from this thread] Thanks for your reply, after searching Google I found the Macro attached. But it doesn't work for me for some reason. Do you know a similar macro? That macro gave me 57 pages.
What happened when you ran the macro? Note it does not actually print the list, it inserts it in the active document. |

Other than the size limitation for a template/document, I know of no limitation.
Note that you can have building blocks in multiple templates. Those templates must be either stored in the Building Blocks folder or loaded as Global Templates. Where can Building Blocks be stored? I try to separate my building blocks by purpose. I do that by using:
You can use custom galleries. You can assign keyboard shortcuts and QAT icons. (Shortcuts and icons should be stored in the same template that holds the building blocks.) Build & Deploy Custom Building Block Galleries by Greg Maxey, MVP |

It's showed only a few building blocks 4 or 5, and I have several hundred.
if it could show all the building blocks that was good. |

Are those building blocks accessible in your active document? Do they show up in the building blocks organizer?

Yes its show up. the only problem is that few of them are missing in a time.
i will try separate them as you said for a better control. |

The macro does not list those bb stored in building blocks templates. It shows them from normal.dotm and loaded Add-Ins (and presumably the attached template). It lists templates that have no building blocks. I am in the process of trying to write one that will get them all, but don't hold your breath I am somewhat of a tyro when it comes to coding and I do have a day job.
If you want Alan Wyatt's macro to list your custom buliding blocks stored in Building Blocks.dotx, load that file temporarily as an Add-In. It will then be a member of the vba templates collection in Word. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-09-2019 at 07:54 AM. |

Temporarily load it as an Add-In?
The file is likely named Building Blocks.dotx. That can be found in a profile folder: c:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Document Building Blocks\1033\16\ Once you find it, you could double-click on it to create a new document and run Mr. Wyatt's macro. It would create the list in the new document. The above location is for English US language Word version 2016 and later. To temporarily load it as an Add-In, instead, go to the Document Template button on the Developer Tab and use the Add button to add it to the Add-Ins list. It will stay loaded until the next time you start Word. Last edited by Charles Kenyon; 12-09-2019 at 07:53 AM. |

Did it get them all for you?
If you want the ones that come with Word, you would add the Built-In Building Blocks.dotx file. |
