Default Macros

Is there a place that has a list of formating marcos I can write; I have to take a standard text file that have a table like format but do to excel changing number into date word seems like the next best option. The fields currently are separated by tabs in one file and spaces in another.

What I want to do is right a couple macros that can help with formating the text once in word but I do not know what formating macro commands I can use.
If anyone know of or has a list of commands that would help out tremendously.

Thanks

If you want to use Macros, then you have to create it by yourself, others are just keyboard shortcuts.

List of Macros that you have in your MS Word copy can be displayed by pressing ALT + F8.

And what exactly do you mean by formatting macros? Because bold, italic, etc. can be turned on by shortcuts and all these things are considered formatting.

So do you have some exact formatting that you need to help with to put into macro?

There is a lot of these flat files that only have tabbing in their formatting; I am trying to get the text to all line up evenly, and yes there would be some first row bold'ing and underlineing. I basically have to turn this tab spaced report and turn it into a presentable report. Macros is were I thought would be a good starting point because there is a lot of these that need to be formatted.

All right,

so if I understand it right you need to get rid of tabs and then format your first lines.

As to tabs:
To get rid of the completely do this:
First backup your document, just to be sure.
Then:

1. Hit CTRL + H (Find and replace)
2. In "Find what" field type ^t; that is a sign for tab character.
3. Into "Replace with" field type either blank space or leave it blank.
4. Hit replace all and tabs will be replaced by what you typed into "Replace with" field.

Creating macro:
Well, in this case I can give you only rough explanation, because I would need to know what exactly you need but:

1. Position your cursor at the begining of the line you want to format.
2. Press ALT + F8; this will open Macro window.
3. Then press "Create" button.
4. Name macro and give it a shortcut. I advise you to use CTRL + 3 and higher.
5. If you want to select the first row then press SHIFT + END button.
6. Now, do the formatting you need to do.
7. Save macro.
8. When you will want to do the formatting, then just position your cursor at the begining of the line/row and press the CTRL + something combination for the macro.

Well, I hope I have answered your question.

Since tomorrow I will be gone for 14 days and without internet, so if you will have any other problems, hopefully somebody else will help you. :-)
