Default Word Template - Selectable Image Population

Hi

I have been a member of various forums for different products but first time I have found a forum for all office products together.

I'm able to do some VBA and have cobbled together a number of different Excel and Word templates, etc.

I now have a need to create a document for creating a safety warning notice (a4) which would contain a number of standard safety signs with associated text next to each one. I'm thinking Word is the best for this as its visually better for posters, signs, etc.

I am trying to figure out a way to have a 'library' of images (head protection, goggles, boots, etc.) that a user can open and simply click which ones are needed and then these are added to the front page template so that they can print it out.

I can do this with links to a local drive but I would prefer to keep it all in the same document so that it can easily shared as a stand-alone document.

My thoughts were a front page with bookmarks in key places (say a maximum of maybe 7 or 8 and then have a second page (which would not print out) which would hold all available images (maybe up to 30 or 40). The user then opens the template, maybe runs a userform which has a drop-down or maybe all the images in that userform with simply check boxes to show which ones are needed. They select what they need, click ok, and then the macro copies the relevant ones over to the front page in the right place ready for page 1 to be printed.

Hope that makes sense and open to any ideas or options which you think would work. I've tried to find existing documents on the internet but have not found anything. If someone could start me off, I would be massively grateful.

Thanks

Simon

To do this and have the images in the Word document implies putting them in IF fields that can be used to test whether the image should be displayed. The simplest approach, which requires no macro coding, would be to use dropdown formfields to choose whether to display a given image. See attached. To see the field coding used for this, switch of the 'filling in forms' protection and press Alt-F9.
