Default repeated formatting with macro in Word

hi all,

I'm new to this all and i'm wondering if this is the right way to go about getting the desired result i'm working to. Am I right that i can use macros to get a set of actions done with one click or button combination?

I'm working with a lot of articles and the formatting is always the same. I select everything, shrink the font 3x, change it to 'Calibri', change the color of everything to 'black, text1, lighter 25%' and finaly change, in the page layout, the margins to moderate.

Can all this be done with one macro linked to a button?
I've yet not achieved much result with messing around with the information i find online, could someone maybe guide me to a good source for this specific thing i want, or can someone help me where i could start looking for basics online?

,any help is much apreciated!

You should create a paragraph Style with the required formatting, save that to a suitable template (i.e. one that your documents are based on), then you can simply use Ctrl-A to select the entire document before applying the Style.

Ah! i was just looking for this in the wrong area, thank you very much!
this is perfect for what i want.

edit;
I've been messing around a bit with this, but i found that these styles don't 'interact' with the current formatting. for example, when some of the text in the article is Italic,
and my style just changes the font and color, the italic text not only changes color and font, but also changes the italic bits back to standard form. Is there any way around this?

Did you choose a Paragraph Style, or a Character Style?

Paragraph style attributes are often overridden by local direct formatting being applied the text. If you have applied the correct style and the text still doesn't look right, make sure there is no local formatting by selecting and pressing Ctrl-Space and Ctrl-Q

Note that these keyboard shortcuts remove character styles too so you need an alternative command if you wanted to keep character styling.

Hi Andrew,

My understanding of

is that it's the opposite problem: the font is changing from italics to normal text, which is something one would ordinarily expect with a Character Style, not a paragraph Style (unless the entire paragraph was formatted with italics).

I assumed this was a toggle issue that you see with bold and italic. Applying an italic character style to a paragraph that has an italic paragraph style gives you non-italic text.

Sorry for my late response and my poor explaining of that problem,
but Macropod was absolutely right, that was the problem. Working now with Character Style is giving me everything I want!

Thank you both very much for your time and clear instructions! I really appreciate that!

P.
