Default Issue Using Word Document with Cascading Drop Down Lists

Hi

I got help on creating cascading (dependent) drop lists in Word 2007 and it works perfectly as long as I leave the document saved on my desktop but as soon as I try to save it to the proper folder or email it to managers to complete the drop downs fail to work. The "Master" drop down works but the "Slave" ones doesn't.

I saved the finished form as a Microsoft Office macro enabled document and as I said everything works perfectly until I email it to someone for completion or save it to anywhere other than my desktop.

When I save the file to where I actually want it to save, the VBA editor is blank for the file. When I go back to the one saved on my desktop the editor has all my coding.

Any idea what I am doing wrong here?

Lynn :-)

That suggests you've added the macro that drives the process to the document template (which isn't available to the managers) instead of to the document (which must then be saved in the docm format).

Hi, Paul

I've tried a couple of options and even re-done the form from scratch and saving as a "Word macro-enable document". All my drop downs work fine and the dependent drop downs work fine but again when I email it to someone, only the dependent drop downs don't work.

The Master menus work but not the Slave. I'm ready to admit defeat as I just don't know how to fix this. I'm hoping that another member (possibly yourself as no one else has responded) could look at the attached and see what I'm doing wrong. Although, I suspect that the non-working one will show on your system rather than the all working one which shows on my system.

I emailed it to my daughter who did some VBA back in uni and she was saying that when she goes into code view nothing appears but when I go into code view on my system, it's all there.

Help me please!

Lynn :-(

It does help if your 'Master' options and the 'Select Case' options are the same. For example, the 'Master' has as its first option 'Administration/Clerical/Secretarial' but the corresponding 'Select Case' option is 'Administration, Clerical or Secretarial'.

Beyond that, you might need to check the end user's macro-security settings; they should be set to 'Disable all macros with notification' (the second-highest setting).
