Word Macro to format transcript data
Hello,
I am a teacher trying to help students determine their course fulfillments for graduation. The official school website is not very friendly and does not give students an easy to look at format for classes taken and their GPA. When copy and pasted into word (copy as text) it shows the following: Summer III 2012 1 COMM 1304 A << Fall 2014 1 ENGL 3304 B Summer III 2012 1 BUS 3300 C << Fall 2014 1 ENGL 4304 A Fall 2012 1 BUS 3300 B << Fall 2014 1 ENGL 3302 A << I would like to have students view it as this: Year(tab)Semester(tab)Course(tab)Grade(A) 2012(tab)Summer III(tab)COMM 1304(tab)A 2014(tab)Fall(tab)ENGL 3304(tab)B 2012(tab)Summer III(tab)BUS 3300(tab)C 2014(tab)Fall(tab)ENGL 4304(tab)A 2012(tab)Fall(tab)BUS 3300(tab)B sample file.docx<<please look at sample file for current formatting This way we could export the text into excel (because of the tab delimited format). Then we could create a table from the data and sort accordingly. Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated! =) |

Your data might be easier to work with if you simply pasted it into Word or Excel. Tabular data from web sites often pastes into either app in a table format. It would be a lot simpler to clean up such data that to try to reformat the text.
As for sorting, Word can sort table data, too.
