Default Problem batch adding autotext using Greg Maxey's Building Blocks Add-In

Hi All,

I'm wondering if someone could help me with Greg Maxey's Building Blocks Add-In.

I've successfully added a large number of custom autotext items to my template document using the Add-In, but for some reason the styles applied to them seem to be almost random.

Sometimes when they're inserted they take on the style of the location they're inserted. Sometimes they keep the style I applied to them in the Building Blocks table and sometimes the final paragraph doesn't take the style but the rest of the inserted text does!

I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong, but I just can't work out what it is!

Any help would be much appreciated.

The paragraph marks in an AutoText entry carry formatting with them especially if the formatting was applied directly rather than through styles.

Thanks, Charles, that makes sense.

So how do I apply the style to the final paragraph mark in the table cell? I tried selecting the whole cell and applying the style to that but it doesn't seem to affect that final 'equivalent-of-a-carriage-return' square symbol in the table.

I don't want to add another carriage return after the final paragraph because the style already adds a space.

Have you tried selecting the cell marker?
Showing non-printing formatting marks in Microsoft Word

Note, I have not tried using AutoText to add to table cells. I have had entire tables, and rows.

Hi Charles,

I did try selecting the cell marker but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm not inserting autotext into a table but creating autotext within a table using the Building Blocks Add-In. It seems however, that the text will merge with the existing formatting at least where I plan to put it (even though the formatting is inconsistent if inserted elsewhere in the document) so I'm not going to worry about it further.

Many thanks for the help.
