Unhappy Macro to select and format all pictures at once

Dear all,

My company has been involved in some trainings. We need to give each trainee a customised certificate.

I know the basics of a mail merge so including each person's first name/name/training dates etc. is completely OK. However, I also have to include a scan of each trainer's signature. I know how to mail merge pictures:

Alt F9
Ctrl ++ F9
INCLUDEPICTURE "" \*MERGEFORMAT\d
Insert my merge field between the ""
Alt F9
Finish mail merge by editing individual files
Ctrl A and F9 so all signatures appear

This works perfectly fine. However, my sample certificate is carefully formatted (it's a Word Table) and I don't want each signature to impact the certificate's structure. So I'd like all signatures to float over text.

Problem:
- I cannot format the Signature mail merge field as it is NOT a picture
- I understand there is no way to select all pictures at once - which would allow me to select Float Over Text only once.

So I guess I need to use a macro. But I know very, very little about macros Can someone help please?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Mail-merging images is not as straightforward as you envisage - see http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm and http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics_addin.htm.

There is no easy way
to do what you ask as part of mail merge. I would be inclined to put the signature graphics in table cells of fixed width, and redesign the certificate to accommodate this, but I have not seen your document.

http://www.gmayor.com/individual_merge_letters.htm and (if you are e-mailing the certificates as PDF files - http://www.gmayor.com/ManyToOne.htm ) will aid the process of producing the certificates.

Simply changing the images from 'in-line' to 'in front of text' is going to be difficult to arrange by macro without seeing the document and the effects of inserting the field and changing the wrap in order to accommodate those changes and give the required result.

Another possibility is to use merge autotext fields to insert the images. Autotexts can of course contain the images pre-configured.
