Uncheckable check boxes
We have a Word form for submitting requests to get some code run. It uses checkboxes to specify schemas and environments for the run.
Some users are not able to check the checkboxes. Clicking the checkbox selects it instead of checking it. I am using Word 2013, and the form works correctly for me. We have both 2010 and 2013 users in our workspace, but one of the people experiencing the issue is another 2013 user. Is this a Word configuration issue? Has anyone seen it before and solved it? |

Is this a protected form with legacy check box form fields? If so the probability is that the protection has become switched off. Add the 'Lock' button to the QAT (Quick Access Toolbar) of the form template as a quick fix.

Trying it out with "non-legacy" checkboxes to see what happens.

I have the same problem with command buttons - Word 2010
Hi TedC,
I was wondering if you found a solution to this problem. I am experiencing the same problem with command buttons in Word 2010. On my computer, the code behind the button is executed. On many other Word 2010 installations, the code is not executed and the button is just selected, as if in design mode. The document is not in design mode. If the document is protected, as suggested, - Restriction = filling out form, code will execute on my computer, but not on many other computers. In this case, the button cannot be even be clicked. |

The problem with command buttons relates to an errant update by Microsoft last month. If you close all of Office and empty the user temp folder of all files not in use it should go away. The temp folder can be located (in English language versions of Windows) by typing
%appdata%\..\Local\Temp in the Windows Explorer Address bar and pressing Enter. Applications will restore any temporary folders they require when they are next run.

Thanks for the reply. I found this info last night. Microsoft KB2553154, KB2596927 and KB2726958 talk about this issue and recommend that removal or renaming all .exd files from the hard drive will fix the issue. The issue was fixed in my case.

Indeed - this is what my suggestion does, and also it removes a load of unnecessary dross from the folder.
