Save Every 2 pages of Word Document as the First Line of Text
Hi all,
I have a document that is hundreds of pages long. I'd like split and save every 2 pages. I'd like to save each document using the first line of text on every odd page. See example below: Page 1 and 2 - Save as a .docx based on the first line of text on page 1. Page 3 and 4 - Save as a .docx based on the first line of text on page 3. Page 5 and 6 - Save as a .docx based on the first line of text on page 5. Page 7 and 8 - Save as a .docx based on the first line of text on page 7. Page 9 and 10 - Save as a .docx based on the first line of text on page 9. ...this would repeat until all pages have been saved. Please let me know if there is macro available that would accomplish this. Thank you!! |

Assuming your page pairs are terminated by Section breaks, you could use the SplitMergedDocument macro under the 'Split Merged Output to Separate Documents' topic here: https://www.msofficeforums.com/mail-...ps-tricks.html

Hi Macropod,
The page pairs are not separated by section breaks, they are naturally separated by the page's length. However, since every page contains the same layout with different content, every two pages are their own sections. Do you know if there is a macro for such a case? Thank you! |

What, if anything, delineates the breaks between the pages, especially the page pairs?

It seems that the only thing defining page 2 from page 3 is that page 3 is there because of the length of content on page 2. If there is no defining break (beside length) it makes it much harder. Not impossible, but you have to extract your two pages as you go, using ranges. This is why it is a good idea to structure documents using the way Word defines structure, i.e. section breaks. To Word, a "section" is ONLY a section if it is defined as such with section breaks. However, as macropod asks, is there anything else that could possibly be used to delineate pages? Is there anything that can be used to identify the 1 & 2 pairing from the 3 & 4 pairing? |

Manual page breaks and paragraphs with the 'page break before' attribute would probably work just fine too, in this scenario.

Yup. In any case Faugs, whether by adding manual page breaks/paragraphs with page breaks before; OR adding section breaks, for efficient processing you need something to identify the chunks you want.
