Thumbs up

Greg, thank you so much for your code post. That's really all I was hoping for. What I received instead from et. al. was not quite what I had expected.

And I do know of your site http://gregmaxey.com/. Visited it quite a long time ago as a matter of fact.

Seeing that you were a submarine ordnance commander in the U.S. Navy, I must ask you if you ever encountered a very fine gentleman by the name of Michael Bates. He is presently my CCNA instructor - beyond lucid in his presentation and every bit as fine an instructor as I had during my undergraduate and graduate years. Please do let me know.

And again, thank you for your assistance - and your civility. In closing, I do think what really gets people who assail me is that I just don't get upset or engage them in senseless repartee. Because there is so much of that nonsense on the net, I tend not to frequent forums that much anymore. Perhaps that is why I had no idea what cross-posting is or how it was such a crime. Just never ever encountered it before.

See you on your site. Thanks again.

Dennis,

I don't recall specifically a Michael Bates. However, while I have no doubt that he is a fine gentleman, if he was associated with submarines he is likely to have at least an undercoat of barnacles and seaweed in his character ;-)

It is really unfortunate that you have both assailed and feel assailed. However debating what you and others have said is, as you say here, senseless repartee.

It seems you have a solution and perhaps through a hard knock have learned the frustration that regulars in these forums experience from cross posts.

Greg

Greg,

I must again repeat:

1) I am not familiar with nor have I ever heard of cross-posts.

2) I do not know how these threads are related such that a so-called "cross-post" could even exist.

3) I have no idea how http://www.vbaexpress.com/forum/show...664#post308664 is related to this particular forum.

4) If you read back over the threads, you will surely see that I have been exceedingly restrained in my response to the likes of

And if you got "quite fatigued" from this, I suggest you seek medical attention.
That, Greg, would be called an ad hominem attack. I don't indulge in those. Oh, by way of clarification, when I said I got "fatigued" from what was going on, I was being both sarcastic and dismissive. Apparently British understatement is lost on those folks.

As for my restraint, I can assure you that it is the result of extreme discipline coupled with the fact that I rarely encounter a worthy opponent - either verbal or physical. If I am deemed "haughty" for saying this, I shall readily agree. My self-confidence is both substantial and well-founded.

And thanks, Greg, for the kind invite to "The Anchorage". I made a list of the subs you served on and will see if they ring a bell with Mr. Bates. What I most respect about submariners is the highly evolved social skills they must have to spend six months a year submerged with their shipmates. You, sir, are to be commended for your service.

Well lets hope for the honor of submariners the world over that whatever happens underwater, stays underwater. Except the submarine of course. I think Mr. Bates will agree.
