Is the following possible? Is it difficult to code in a VBA script?

At the top of a word document is a table. The first column of the table contains field codes. The second contains values that we want in the field codes.



Whenever I change a value in the second column, I want the rest of the document searched for field codes matching the first column and update their value.

That's not how fields work. What you need to do is to bookmark the 'Shift' & 'Kaboom!' strings, then insert cross-references to those bookmarks wherever you want their values to appear. Do note that the cross-references won't automatically update - you can achieve that via Ctrl-A, F9.
