Yes, you can do that, in which case it's simply a matter of testing the content control's checked state. For example, replace:

      Case "COMPLETE": Clr = wdGreen
      Case "Pending": Clr = wdYellow
      Case Else: Clr = wdNoHighlight
    End Select

with:

      Case True: Clr = wdGreen
