Hi all,
I'm looking to create a macro to help streamline a process at work. We have a long (like 600 page) document of rules and regulations. Very frequently, we have to make an abbreviated version of this document where we only pick certain sections. I'd like this macro to, when I click on the table of contents entry for that section, copy that section and paste it into another document (or even just copy it formatted to the clipboard). I'll tell you that I'm very new to macros and VBA in general, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Matt |

Hi Matt,
Word doesn't have an event you can intercept for that kind of thing, so you'd have to navigate to the relevant portion, then start copying. The problem then become one of determining how much to copy. You refer to 'section', but the only sections Word knows about are those created via Section breaks. And a logical section of a document might have none, one or more of those. So that leaves you to work with headings. But even if you're using heading Styles, there are issues that need to be considered. For example, if you choose something with a heading at, say, level 2, how is Word to determine how much to copy? Does it continue till the next Heading 2, or stop at, the first heading 2 below it?
