Default Word is unable to create a link to the object you specified. Please insert the...

Hello All,

I have created a word doc that captures some data for my fire department. Actually, I didn't create it, I just added some fields to help calculate some numbers and copy some notes to help the guys in the stations not have to put up with the difficult task of adding numbers.

Anyway. I have a few tables, as I said, with some legacy text form fields and then in the table below it takes the bookmarks of those fields and adds them together. In the last column is a text form field for notes and it is referenced in the table below and copys the notes down using a ref field.

Everything works fine when I have the file on my computer, but after I copyied it to the Sharepoint server to use as a template for a doc library, I start getting the error "Word is unable to create a link to the object you specified. Please insert the object directly into your file without creating a link" whenever I click into one of the text form fields. Once I click OK on the message, I can input the data and it adds as it is supposed to.

I am unsure why I am getting the dialog box popup and it gives no other details as to why it is coming up.

Any Ideas?

I have attached a locked version of the file, with no password. Like I said, this one should work fine.

Thanks,

Greg

More info..

I just navigated to the file on sharepoint using Explorer and it doesn't do the error. It works fine and then I can "Save As" and put it in the library where it belongs. Still no error.

Only get the pop ups when I create a new one using Sharepoint and clicking "New"

Thanks,

Greg
