Default Word formatting and printers

Hi guys, I use word with a table formatted to fit A4 paper and have been using the same format for several years. We were using a HP 5si up until recently when we switched to a networked canon photocpier/printer. The document now appears not to fit on to the page although everything is still based on an A4 template. Why should a document change when all you do is select an alternative printer. In fact wehn viewing the document on screen it looks fine until the new canon printer is selected then it changes to needing two pages to print. Any ideas anyone?

Hi d.macf,

Word uses information from the attached printer's driver about the printer's capabilities to determine the optimal page layout. Because of the different capabilities of the different printers, some noticeable changes in layout do occur from time to time. If maintaining the exact layout on a given system is important, save the file as a pdf and print from that.

Thanks for the quick response macropod....I was hoping that I would not have to change all of the docs I have created on the "template" in question but it looks like I will have to. The changes are not dramatic but it will be a little bit of a nuisance due to the numbers of docs involved....c'est la vie.
