Default Word 2003 - How to duplicate merged row structure

I have many tables like this:

and repeatedly need to swiftly add strip 1 cells 5, 6 etc.:

What's the swiftest command sequence? Best I've found creates:

requiring I remerge strip 1's cols 2-5 - but individually, given the lack of a Merge Vertically command.

Moved by moderator to Word Tables forum.

Workaround: You can save such a table as an AutoText entry.

You save and use a model table with the rows set up the way you want.

Thanks but what I want to duplicate is rows - not tables.

Real shame Insert Rows Below fails to respect merge:

->

Insert Rows Above does:

but fixing the content by row cut and paste leaves even more mess:

Both merged cells and nested tables make things much more complex. You have discovered one of the limits of Word.
