Horizontal "total" lines in tables that are NOT borders?
Hi there,
Can someone please help with the attached image? It is driving me insane. I am using a file that is rolled forward from previous years and somehow they managed to get this line that is NOT a border. Does anyone know how to create/amend/delete this? I have looked through the whole ribbon and right and left clicked everything and cannot seem to find the option for this? Thank you, |

It is probably a paragraph border inside the cell but we can't really tell from a screen capture. Does it disappear if you select those cells and press Ctrl-Q and/or Ctrl-Space?
If you post a document which contains that content we can tell you the exact steps to remove it.

Hi,
I have attached it now. And no, nothing happens to the line when using those commands. Thank you |

The second column cells have a style applied called "FT # Border 1" which is a clue pointing to a style setting. There is local formatting on the first two cells which turns off that border. When I select the second column cells and press Ctrl-Space and Ctrl-Q I can see plenty of things happen because that gets rid of local formatting and restores the cells formatting to match the applied style's attributes.
If you wanted the formatting of the cells to match the formatting you wanted (eg. the cell with "1" in it), you can: 1. Show your Styles Pane by pressing Alt-Ctrl-Shift-S 2. Put your cursor in the cell with the desired formatting 3. Right click on the style called "FT # Border 1" and choose "Update FT # Border 1 to Match Selection" to change the style definition 4. Select the cells in column 2 and press Ctrl-Q and Ctrl-Space to get rid of local formatting You will see that the cell which says 3 actually has a different style applied to it and you can either modify that style too or apply the new improved style.
