Align table edges
Does anybody know how to solve this problem? It's doesn't let me adjust it manually, always a bit on the left or on the right. |

Table cell alignment can be tricky to restore once someone makes the mistake of changing one row's column width. In my experience it is easiest to simply create a new row above and drag that errant rows contents into the new row and then delete the errant row.
I do this quickly by putting my cursor to the left of the table row above and pressing Enter. Then select the cells in the weird row by clicking and dragging from right to left. Then drag the first cell of the selection into the row above and let go. Then move the mouse to the left of the non-empty errant row so the mouse pointer is a hollow arrow pointing up to the right and click to select that row, right click it and delete. This only takes a few seconds to perform. BUT, if you want to fiddle endlessly, you can try dragging the borders individually. Hold the Alt key down as you drag to border to stop it snapping to larger steps and give you fine control over the positioning.

Technique?
Andrew, this puzzles me, taken from your reply above:
"I [insert a new row] quickly by putting my cursor to the left of the table row above and pressing Enter." Surely you meant "to the right of the row above". Otherwise, pressing enter simply adds a new paragraph in whichever row the cursor preset;y resides. |

When you put your cursor to the left of the table row you get a little + in a circle. Click on it and it adds a row. If you have multiple rows selected, it adds the same number.

Ah! I have that little feature turned off; I find it bothersome. To each his own.

Actually, Ulodesk is correct and I got my left/right sides mixed up in that post. I don't use the newer plus symbol on the left - I actually select the end of row by either clicking on the RIGHT or using the arrow keys and then pressing Enter.
Of course, both methods work but I tend to stick with the same work practices that worked before the "+ in a circle" was introduced to Word since there is no speed advantage on the new method. It is rare that the old methods cease working but I must say I still try to select table columns by Alt-Clicking like we could 20 years ago. Thanks for trying to cover for my mistake Charles - the multiple rows selected tip was something I didn't know and it makes a good argument for using that method when multiple rows are required.
