Default First row of table pushed to separate page

I've got a table in a word doc with a few rows. When the text in the second row means it can't fit on a single page, it splits over onto a second page. This is fine, but word seems to want to keep as much of the text together as possible and so moves the whole row onto a separate page before splitting over onto a second page. The result is a single row (row 1) on a page all of its own with a great big space underneath.

Is there a way to let rows spill to the next page where necessary while using the whole page?

Thanks

Hi Mr. Pez,

Try selecting the whole table, right clicking and choosing Properties. Under the Row tab, check the box to Allow rows to break across pages.

Sorry for the delay in replying.
Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't help. Still get a single line row with a blank page and then the rest of the table starting on the next page.

Select it all and then check the paragraph formatting as well.
You do not want "keep with next" or "keep lines together."
