Why would a table in Word 2016 jump to a new page instead of splitting the rows over 2 pages?

Does the table have text wrapping as one of its properties?
If so, it is confined to a single page.

The table has no text wrapping.

Is it possible you could show us an example of what you are having trouble with?

Did you try? >> Select the table >> Right Click >> Table Properties >> Row >> Check Allow row to break across pages

And you might also check the paragraph format settings for all paragraphs (especially the first paragraph in the table) to ensure the 'Keep with Next' setting is turned off.
